NewsCommunity Broadcasting Sector 2010/11 funding submissionThe peak national community broadcasting sector organisations - the Australian Indigenous Communications Association (AICA); Community Broadcasting Association of Australia (CBAA); National Ethnic & Multicultural Broadcasters Council (NEMBC); RPH Australia, Christian Media Australia (CMA) and the Australian Community Television Alliance (ACTA) meet regularly with the CBF as the Funding Strategy Group (FSG) to consider sector funding needs. A submission formulated by the FSG has recently been lodged with the Minister for Communications, Senator Stephen Conroy, seeking his support for an increase in Australian Government funding support within the context of the 2010/11 budget and beyond. A substantial funding increase is being sought for the maintenance and development of the community broadcasting sector across radio, television and related new media in four areas - content, infrastructure, coordination, and training. The submission proposes a five-year plan to renew Australia's community broadcasting sector and expand its role as a community resource within the emerging digital economy. A meeting has been requested with Senator Conroy to discuss his response to the submission. Further meetings with other key government representatives will follow. > Download the 2010/11 budget funding submission - "Community Broadcasting & Media: Year 2015" (PDF file, 525KB)
