Federal budget outcomes for community broadcasting
The Foundation welcomes the Australian Government's ongoing support for the community broadcasting sector, as detailed in the Federal budget commitment of $12.5 million in 2010/11, including Digital Radio and RPH transmission support funding. The level of Government support has remained steady, adjusted through partial indexation. The Department of Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts will provide $30 million for the Indigenous broadcasting sector through the Indigenous Broadcasting Program, including funds for the National Indigenous TV service.
The sector's bid for $25m in additional funds will be pursued through a sector advocacy and lobbying campaign in the lead up to the Federal election.
