Support for Reconciliation

The Community Broadcasting Foundation supports the Australian Declaration Towards Reconciliation.

The Foundation further supports the National Strategies to Advance Reconciliation, as proposed by the Council for Aboriginal Reconciliation, and the work of Reconciliation Australia.

In particular, the Foundation urges all community broadcasting organisations to publicly support and promote the ongoing reconciliation process, and to increasingly involve Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in their work.

The CBF asks that community radio stations actively observe their Codes of Practice by incorporating policies applying to all station activities that oppose and attempt to break down prejudice on the basis of race, and prohibit the stereotyping or vilification of any person or group on the basis of their race or ethnic background.

Acknowledging traditional owners in your production

The CBF encourages producers to acknowledge in their production the traditional owners of the land on which their content was produced. We suggest:

The Producers of [Name of Program] would like to acknowledge the traditional owners of the land on which this program was produced.

Or where a producer would like to provide details of the traditional owners of the land on which the content was produced, we suggest:

The Producers of [Name of Program] would like to acknowledge the [Name of Indigenous Peoples] peoples as the traditional owners of the land on which this program was produced.
