Funding to enhance national news programming

The CBF will receive additional funding through the Australian Government Media Reform Package to enhance national news programming in the community broadcasting sector. This funding will enhance community broadcasting national news production and distribution. It will expand the capacity of the community broadcasting sector to meet the Community Broadcasting Codes of Practice to:

  • provide access to views not adequately represented by other broadcasting sectors;
  • present factual material accurately’
  • represent viewpoints fairly without editing out context or withholding relevant and available material;
  • clearly distinguish factual material from commentary and analysis.

We expect the funds to arrive with the CBF in the next month and will be looking to distribute that funding quickly with recommendations being made at our August Board meeting.

Expressions of interest are now closed and will be considered by our Sector Investment Advisory Committee shortly. The Committee will then invite either one or a number of complementary applicants to submit a detailed funding request by 30 July, 2018.
