About Australian community broadcasting The Australian community broadcasting sector is recognised internationally as one of the most successful examples of grassroots media. Community broadcasting provides news, information, cultural content and entertainment to communities defined by geographical location or common interest.

CBD 2007 Industry Survey published The biennial Community Broadcasting Database (CBD) Industry survey is one of the sector research initiatives supported by the Foundation. The fourth CBD survey has been published on the sector’s portal http://www.cbonline.org.au.
Funding Strategy Group The Funding Strategy Group (FSG) is an independent and informal working group of national community broadcasting sector organisations convened to deal with sector funding issues. Since its establishment in 2000 the FSG has been the driving force behind collective sector strategic action in support of increased federal government funding for community broadcasting.

Sector Funding Trends Australian community broadcasting is essentially self-funding. Government support remains at a modest level in comparison to total sector turnover, particularly when the value of volunteer input is recognised.
Sector Research The Community Broadcasting Foundation is committed to supporting research on Australian community broadcasting.
