Specialist content when you want it

Gove FM 8EAR Community Radio is located in the township of Nhulunbuy in remote north-east Arnhem Land in the Northern Territory.  The station features a range of local voices and dedicated music programs including blues, country, jazz, global music and rock’n’roll.

The station supplements locally produced content with programs sourced from the Community Radio Network, managed by the Community Broadcasting Association of Australia.

We support the coordination of this satellite service and the complementary Digital Delivery Network which helps stations like Gove FM to automatically capture content for airplay.

The programs Gove FM have signed up for include Nothing but the Blues, Off the Record, Dirt Music, Deadly Voices from the House and one-off special broadcasts like the Byron Bay Bluesfest.

The CBAA’s Community Radio Network is a satellite service offering nationally relevant specialist content for stations to increase and diversify their spoken word content, and sustain programming overnight or when a presenter can’t make their usual show.

“We have a listen and determine whether it’s the right fit for our demographic.  It’s a quick, efficient and highly user-friendly system”

– Maria de Sotto, Gove FM Station Manager

The Digital Delivery Network is an add-on that allows stations to receive file-based content through the high-speed data stream of the satellite service, allowing stations to choose what time a networked program goes to air through their own playout system.

“The CRN are very good at sending updates on new material they have on offer and promoting existing shows. Gove FM’s programming manager and myself receive these emails and can login to www.ddn.com.au to add a program to our service. This way we can have a listen and determine whether it’s the right fit for our demographic. Once downloaded, I can then import programs into our playlist. It’s a very quick, efficient and highly user-friendly system.” – Maria de Sotto, Station Manager.
